FLYIN’ WEST
Don’t miss the final show of CCT’s 37th season: Flyin’ West, a play by Pearl Cleage, July 8 – 17, 2022
Sayeeda Carter and Eileen Bishop Des Jardins direct the cast of N’Quoia Christian, Cynthia Graham, Wanson Harris, Jacob Hebert,Â
Sherri Poree, and Diana Prince. These actors will perform six shows over two weekends on the CCT stage: July 8-9 and 15-16, Fridays and
Saturdays at 8 PM, and 2 Sunday matinee performances at 4 PM on July 10 & 17, 2022
Facing problems ranging from long, cold winters on the Kansas prairie, to domestic violence, to racial conflict, the women of Flyin’ West include Miss Leah, the old woman whose memories of slavery and its aftermath comprise a living oral history; Sophie Washington, whose determination to protect her land and those she loves puts to rest the idea that western archetypes be white and male; Fannie Mae Dove, the gentle sister, trying to beautify the frontier with fine china and flowers, who finds herself falling for their soft-spoken neighbor, Wil Parish; and Minnie Dove Charles, the headstrong baby sister whose husband, Frank, introduces a danger into the household that tests their sisterhood in unexpected ways
Tickets are $20 for adults, with discounts for seniors, students and CCT members, and may be purchased (for cash only) at the CCT box office prior to each show, which opens 45 minutes before curtain.
