Our final production of our 2013-2014 season was La Gringa, an award-winning play by Carmen Rivera. There were seven performances between June 13 and June 28, 2014.
La Gringa is the story of a young woman searching for her roots. While visiting family in Puerto Rico, Maria learns a life lesson from her uncle Manolo about the essence of her identity.
Xiomara Sanchez and Eileen Bishop Des Jardins co-directed the cast of CCT actors (several newcomers and some familiar faces): Carisma Bishop, Antonio Cruz, Carlos Franco, Ann Cecile O’Neill-Prasad, Jamile Smith, and Marie Elise Witmer.
La Gringa was jointly supported by a grant from the Virgin Islands Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, DC, and co-sponsored by Charles Braslow, CBS-TV2, Christiansted Apothecary Hall, Clinical Laboratory, Inc., El Sol Bar and Restaurant, Shirley Govine, Innovative Companies, JKC Communications of the VI, La Reine Chicken Shack, Primary Care PLLC, and Seascape Pool Center, Inc.
